Black Clover (in Japanese: ブラッククローバー Hepburn: Burakku Kurōbā?) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yuki Tabata. It was serialized in Shueisha\’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since February 16, 2015, and was collected in 20 tankōbon volumes. The story is centered around Asta, a young man apparently born without any magical power, something that is unknown in the world in which he lives. With his magical companions Black Bulls, ASTA plans to become the next King Magician.
The manga was adapted into an original video animation produced by Xebec, which was released in 2017, as well as an anime series produced by Pierrot, which also debuted in Japan in 2017. The manga series was licensed for an English-language release in North America by VIZ Media, while the anime series is authorized by CrunchyRoll and Funimation.
The series focuses on Asta, a young orphan who was raised from birth after being abandoned in a church orphanage outside the Clover Realm, along with his orphaned companion, Yuno. While Everyone is born with the ability to use mana in the form of magical power (魔力 Maryoku), Asta is the only exception since it compensates for physical training. On the contrary, Yuno was born as a prodigy with immense magical power and the talent to control the magic of the wind.
Motivated by the desire to become the next King Wizarding, a figure of authority according to the king of the Kingdom of Clover, the two youths developed a friendly rivalry, acquired Grimoires with Yuno, obtaining a four-leaf library in the power of the first King Magician of the Kingdom. Asta, despite his lack of magic, obtained the mysterious five-leaf Grimoire, which contains the rare and mysterious Anti-magic. But after he and Yuno joined a squadron of magical knights as the first step to fulfill their ambitions, Asta faces a terrorist organization that is gathering magical stones to perform a ritual to destroy the Kingdom of Clover for its action Is Meeting the original inhabitants at the time of the first sorcerer King.
