Pikachu ( ピカチュウ’ Pikachu’ ? ) Is a fictional species of the franchise media Pokémon of Nintendo. It first appeared in Japan in 1996 in the Pokémon Red and Blue video games, and was created by Satoshi Tajiri. Originally raised as a minor character, Pikachu became the mascot of the Pokémon universe after being chosen as one of the main characters in the game’s television adaptation, alongside his trainer Ash Ketchum. He is also considered the most popular Pokémon in the franchise.
Generally described as an electric mouse, Pikachu was created by Game Freak Studio and designed by Ken Sugimori. It was created along with its evolution, Raichu; From the second generation onwards, he also had a pre-evolution, the Pichu. Pikachu is of the electric type and occupies the 25th position in Pokédex, the encyclopedia that lists the different Pokémon species.
Pikachu is world-famous for being considered a kawaii icon, and as a Japanese equivalent of Mickey Mouse, being parodied and featured in other animated series such as The Simpsons and Drawn Together.
Pikachu first appeared in 1996 on the Japanese Pokémon Red and Blue video games. And today it is present in almost every franchise electronic game, usually playing a secondary role; and plays a central role in the television series, movies and manga based on the Pokémon universe, and the electronic game Pokémon Yellow.
